dailey family • slideshow

I have just loved reading the sweet comments people have left on here for the Dailey family on the adoption of their sweet little guy, Saxon, from Korea. Here is a slideshow with some more pictures from the big arrival! :)

welcome home, saxon • babies

This was by far one of the coolest things I've ever photographed. I got to capture this sweet family of three ...

... becoming a family of four.

This was such a blessing to be a part of. Kathy and Tim (fellow photographers from the Boston area) contacted me early last week to tell me that they just learned their son would be arriving from Korea on Friday in Detroit and they wondered if I could photograph the arrival for them. I was so thrilled that they called. We have known people who have adopted from Korea, Vietnam and Russia, but we've never been there when the babies arrived. So it was really interesting as well as one of the most special events I've photographed thus far. Here are a few pictures:

waiting patiently

getting anxious

Finally, the much anticipated moment. Baby Saxon arrives. I love the pure joy on their faces as they see their new son face to face for the first time. Such incredible love.

first kiss :)

daddy's turn

and, of course, big brother wants to hold him

One of the coolest things about this is that he really is Saxon's big brother. They have the same birth mother, which is so special and unique. To be able to adopt one child and then adopt his brother three years later. Very cool.

LOVE his chubby cheeks :)

Congratulations, you guys! It was such an honor to share this moment with you. God Bless your sweet family. :)

family mini session • slideshow

I had the wonderful opportunity to photograph one of my favorite families for the third year in a row and, oh my, how the kids are growing. Actually, the first year I did their family pictures, there were only two - the girls - and last year there was an addition to the family. He's such a big guy now, walking all over the place. Loved seeing them again. Here is a little slideshow from their session:

family photos with kris and heidi

My friend (and awesome assistant), Heidi, and I took pictures of each others families this fall. Thought I'd share a few from the day:

Heidi's little family:

and mine:

the betser family

A couple weeks ago, I was able to photograph this family, whose pictures I took last year, too. They are so much fun and always laughing together, which makes my job so easy. Loved getting to do their pictures again and meeting the new addition to their family. And the girls are so cute and have grown up a lot since last year. That's always fun to see. :) Here are some favorites from their shoot:

[ a sweet shot of mother and son ]

[ didn't I say they were always laughing together ] :D

[ what a cutie pie. love this shot. such a proud daddy. ]

[ the girls ]

[ such a fun moment ]

[ helping the baby to smile ] :)

There were a lot of fun shots, too many to post here. The girls doing their best diva poses, lots more laughter, even a shot of daddy with baby's binky in his mouth. I told him I was posting that one on my website. :D Had so much fun! Can you tell?

photographing kids

it can be challenging, but I like catching the kids as they are ... being kids.

This family was so very nice.  The kids were just adorable.  We were able to get this nice family picture.  It was one of the first we took, which is probably why the kids were a little more cooperative.  :)
