I have just loved reading the sweet comments people have left on here for the Dailey family on the adoption of their sweet little guy, Saxon, from Korea. Here is a slideshow with some more pictures from the big arrival! :)

wesley (and big sister, too) • babies

Last Saturday, I was so happy to see my dear friend, Cherish, and photograph her 3 month old, Wesley. He is the cutest little guy with such wonderful expressions. And I really didn't have to do much more than smile at him to get him to respond. It was great!

I love how his little fingers look like he's signing "I love you". hehe!

Big sis, Maggie, playing peek-a-boo with him. So cute.

Getting tired of the camera

Maggie loves to dance. :)

This was one of those shots that you get when you're trying for something else. I wanted her to look up at me with her cutest smile, but she would only look up briefly and then lower her head again. She had her hands all clasped together and as soon as she glanced down, I snapped this one. Looks so sweet, like she's praying. Love it.

It was so good seeing you guys! More coming soon! :)

welcome home, saxon • babies

This was by far one of the coolest things I've ever photographed. I got to capture this sweet family of three ...

... becoming a family of four.

This was such a blessing to be a part of. Kathy and Tim (fellow photographers from the Boston area) contacted me early last week to tell me that they just learned their son would be arriving from Korea on Friday in Detroit and they wondered if I could photograph the arrival for them. I was so thrilled that they called. We have known people who have adopted from Korea, Vietnam and Russia, but we've never been there when the babies arrived. So it was really interesting as well as one of the most special events I've photographed thus far. Here are a few pictures:

waiting patiently

getting anxious

Finally, the much anticipated moment. Baby Saxon arrives. I love the pure joy on their faces as they see their new son face to face for the first time. Such incredible love.

first kiss :)

daddy's turn

and, of course, big brother wants to hold him

One of the coolest things about this is that he really is Saxon's big brother. They have the same birth mother, which is so special and unique. To be able to adopt one child and then adopt his brother three years later. Very cool.

LOVE his chubby cheeks :)

Congratulations, you guys! It was such an honor to share this moment with you. God Bless your sweet family. :)

Saturday morning, my husband Jake and I dropped our kids off at my parents house and took off for Chicago for a baby photo session. It was so great to see Christina and Alex again and meet their new baby girl and this trip was extra special for me since it was my very first time in Chicago (I'll be sharing some pictures we took in the city in the next day or two.). Here are a few of the pictures of sweet Eva.

She's so tiny and precious. I like this shot of her all tiny on the loveseat with the rows of pictures from the wedding above. It's so fun to see my work displayed. :)

Eva's nursery is adorable!

I love baby feet. :)

This one is so precious.

I love these next two! Such a sweet little family.

hehe ... naked baby. I thought this one was fun because she loved looking at her mommy's striped robe hanging on the door the whole time so I had to get a shot with the robe in the background. :)

I adore this one.

Congratulations again, Alex and Christina. It was so fun seeing you and God has blessed you with a sweet little angel. :)

claire + ella • babies

I had the best time today taking pictures of baby Claire and her big sister Ella. These sweeties are the daughters of one of my past wedding couples, Anya and Nick. Since the winter months are the slow time of year for photography and I've been itching to take pictures, I asked Anya if I could come take some pictures of the new baby. She was all for it and I was so glad because I haven't seen her probably since their wedding and she still keeps in touch with me, sending me Christmas cards and emails with pictures of Ella. So I was really excited to meet both the girls and see her again. :) Here are a few from our time together this morning:

Getting Ella to sit still proved to be a challenge, but she's such a cutie.

Her favorite boots! :)

and she LOVES Barney!

Cutie Claire. With diaper ...

...and without.

And one last shot after she fell asleep on the floor. So precious.

Thank you so much, Anya! It was so good to see you. And thanks for the little gift. You're the sweetest.

baby kurt

Had so much fun taking pictures of my friend Julie's baby.  He was only five days old.  So precious.  You quickly forget how small babies are when they first arrive.  They just grow so fast.  So it was great to be able to capture pictures of him in those first days.

They have a living room with lots of windows so I laid black fabric over a chair in the corner and propped him up there.  The lighting was so great.  I snapped a bunch of shots before he got fussy.  Got a few of him and mommy, too.

I don't do a lot of indoor shoots because I work mostly in a candid style and don't own or want a lot of fancy lighting equipment.  That's just not who I am or how I want to work.  But give me a room with great light and I can get some nice natural looking shots.

Julie really liked the pictures I got while I was there.  That's all that matters to me.  :)
